Stefan Gymsa performs as a solo guitarist and chamber music partner. He is member of the judging
panel in competitions and teaches during workshops for chamber music. Since October 2013 he’s got a teaching assignment at the college of Music Cologne (Wuppertal).
2014 he obtained his Master’s degree with Prof. Gerhard Reichenbach. Previously he obtained his Bmus with honours (class of Prof. Alfred Eickholt).
Stefan Gymsa started playing the guitar when he was nine years old. From 1999 till 2008 he was a
pupil of Volker Höh at the Landesmusikgymnasium Montabaur (grammar school specialized on music). He is a scholar of the Kreissparkasse Westerwald and won several prizes in the german “Jugend
musiziert” competition. In 2006 he started his studies at the College of Music Cologne (Wuppertal) as a junior student.
He has participated in masterclasses with Marcin Dylla, Carlo Marchione, Zoran Dukic and Hubert Käppel.
Next to his soloistic appearance, Stefan Gymsa is an experienced partner for chamber music in varying constellations. He also played in the Wuppertal Opera under H. Griffiths and Wuppertal Symphonie Orchestra under T. Kamioka. He was part of the CD production “Deutsche Gitarrenmusik” for the label Naxos. Many concert tours led him et al. to Italy, Russia and South America.
